Artificial stone can be fixed with mortar or adhesive, and it is important to choose the right product for use with the stone. If you are going to use the stone in a humid area, such as a shower, it is also important to choose a waterproof adhesive or mortar.
Fixing the stone with mortar or adhesive is very similar:
1. Start by mixing the mortar or adhesive according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
2. Then, apply the mortar or adhesive to the back of the stone with a palette.
3. When the stone is completely covered, press it into place on the wall.
4. Use a level to make sure that the stone is uniform and then leave the mortar or adhesive to fully dry before continuing.
Once the stone is fixed to the wall, you will need to finish off by applying a sealer. This protects the stone from efflorescences and stains. It is also important to choose a sealer that is compatible with the type of stone being used. Again, let the first coat dry completely before applying the second coat.
